Under-canopy lighting (UCL), specifically the Culti Light system, is a specialized LED solution designed to solve a classic problem in indoor cultivation: the "shadow zone."
While traditional overhead lights do the heavy lifting for the top of the plant, the lower tiers often suffer from light attenuation, leading to underdeveloped "larf" (small, airy buds) and wasted energy.
Core Concept: Bottom-Up Energy
Culti Light bars are installed within or beneath the plant canopy, firing light upward and sideways. This targets the fan leaves and bud sites that are usually shaded by the primary canopy.
Key Benefits
-
Increased Yield: By providing photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) to lower nodes, you turn what would have been fluff into dense, marketable flower.
-
Improved Uniformity: It evens out the vertical light gradient, ensuring the bottom of the plant is working just as hard as the top.
-
Enhanced Secondary Metabolites: Increased light exposure to lower areas can stimulate better terpene and cannabinoid production throughout the entire plant, not just the top colas.
-
Lower Heat Signature: These LEDs are typically designed to be "cool to the touch," meaning they won't burn the foliage even when tucked deep inside the dense greenery.
Technical Edge
Most Culti Light systems utilize a full-spectrum or pink-tinted spectrum optimized for the flowering stage. Since they are used in high-humidity environments, they usually carry a high IP rating (waterproof/dustproof) to handle foliar spraying and transpiration.
